Grim Workshop Tools Review
By Kyle MacNall
It’s not often that I get to review something that is absolutely perfect for our audience. Grim Workshop has these products. Their products are proudly made in America, in their factory in Texas. They produce and sell survival cards and tools designed for everyday carry. No matter what sticky situation your customers get into, Grim Workshop has a survival card that can help.
Recently, they sent us samples of six different designs of their survival cards and tools. All of their tools are constructed of high-grade US sourced steel. They included in the samples their Key Card, Bob Hansler Signature Card, Grim Escape Dog Tag, Hook and Lure Dog Tag, Minnow Lure Micro tool and First Aid Micro Tool. Each is designed with a different purpose or application.
The Bob Hansler Signature Card and the Key Card are both the size of a credit card. They can fit easily into a wallet or pocket where they can be easily accessed. The Grim Key Card is designed to help you open just about any lock. Included on the Key Card are: five lock picks, two tension wrenches and an emergency escape tool with a handcuff key, shim, file and saw on it. This makes up a total of ten different tools in this one small card.
The Bob Hansler Signature Card is more of your all-around survival tool. This card was specially designed with well-known survival expert and knife maker Bob Hansler. There are 18 total tools packed into this little card. First a small saw back knife, with Bob Hansler’s signature engraved, a saw, fishing hook sharpener, two suture needles, two sewing needles, three small fishing lures, a medium lure, large hook, twelve small hooks and a fishing line wrap.
Grim Workshop does not only make survival tools that are the size of a credit card, they can make them even smaller! The First Aid and Minnow Lure Micro Tools are about the size of a large paper clip. They measure under two inches long, about a half an inch wide and still as thin as a credit card. The Minnow Lure is a solid piece of steel with the hooks built in. The First Aid Micro Tool includes two different size sutures, a saw and a tick remover. Both include a clip that can be added to a key chain or clipped on to the side of a back pack.
Lastly, they sent us out two versions of their Dog Tag survival tools. The Hook and Lure Dog Tag and the Grim Escape Dog Tag. As the name suggests, they designed the product to the same size and shape of a traditional military dog tag. The Grim Escape Dog Tag includes a handcuff key, shim, file and saw. Both dog tag tools include a silencer and two chains: a longer chain for wearing around the neck and a smaller chain that can be used to attach the dog tags to a bag or belt loop. One really good feature is that customers can stack three-four Grim Workshop Dog Tag tools into one silencer, which covers just about any situation in a tiny package.
