There have been a lot of products developed over the years to answer one question. “How can I have fresh hot coffee, or tea, with me in the outdoors?” The number of tumblers and thermoses on the market are endless. Percolators, brew pots and presses abound. As an avid outdoorsman and long-time camper, I have tried many of these options. I’ve tried instant and even have used a coffee brewing device that is shaped like a smoking pipe. You may remember that review from a couple of years ago. Recently, Planetary Design combined these products into one compact and easy to carry device. The BruTrek OVRLNDR is a heavy duty travel ready French Press and a double wall insulated steal thermos all in one. 

The OVRLNDR has a large 24oz compacity and comes in 6 different colors. It is just over nine inches tall and about three and half inches in diameter. It is constructed of food grade 18/8 steel and is BPA free. The lid has a secure snap and pour spout that latches closed tightly to prevent spillage while on the move. The Bru-Stop press remains attached to the lid when unscrewed. The bottom also screws off for easy cleaning. 

To use the OVRLNDR first pour your desired amount of coffee grounds directly into it. Next, pour hot water into the thermos. Screw on the lid and let it sit for three to four minutes. Then press the Bru-Stop plunger all the way down until it stops. Once fully pressed down, the patented Bru-Stop technology creates a seal that separates the brewed coffee from the grounds. This gives you a smooth tasting thermos of coffee without any loose grounds in it. Once you have finished your coffee, simply unscrew the bottom, pour out the grounds wash.  

I have tried many coffee related products while camping, sitting in a duck blind before the sunrise or on the ice in a shanty. Most tumblers cannot keep the drink hot for long enough. Many do not have lids secure enough to stay sealed while rolling around the bottom of a canoe. Percolators are out of the question away from home or the campsite.  Traditional French Presses typically can only do a small cup at a time and require you to have that additional cup or thermos. With the OVRLNDR just pour the coffee grounds in the bottom, add hot water and go!
