INTERVIEW WITH MAURICE BLANGA, CO-OWNER OF BLANTEX.

It is time for another interview with a vendor for ANMEXPO, Blantex, located in Houston, TX.

I had the pleasure of interviewing the charismatic co-owner, Maurice Blanga who graciously granted this interview.

History of Blantex

A well known furniture manufacturer in Mexico had been producing cots, beds etc., since 1967 and, in the early 1980s approached Joseph Blanga and his son Maurice to sell their products in the United States.  At that time, Blantex began selling a limited line of folding cots, folding beds, rollaway beds, and directors chairs.

In 1989, Maurice earned his BS degree in Management and Economics and joined the company full time.  Maurice grew the line to include bunk beds, folding chairs and stools, as well as special needs cots/beds for emergency response. Blantex now sells to sporting goods, camping/outdoors retailers and etailors as well as hospitals and emergency responders, mobile home manufacturers, military and mining companies. Blantex has provided emergency response furniture for Hurricane Katrina (2005) Rita (2005), Ike (2008), Irene (2011), the 2010/2011 Venezuelan and Montana floods and the cholera outbreak in Haiti, to name a few.  Blantex sells products all over the world, including Latin America, Africa, and the U.S. Military in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Blantex’s outstanding reputation of quality products and fast delivery drives its sales, utilizing distributors and retailers to find them customers.

What Makes Blantex Special?

The beds they sell are made of heavy duty steel which can carry the weight of 375 lbs. Another special advantage of using Blantex is that they stock most products in their Houston, Tx. warehouse and usually ship orders the same or next day. Blantex has an outstanding drop ship program with Quality products, Fast ship times, and most items In Stock at all times. Retaliers save by no having double freight on items shipped directly to end users and not having to inventory all the items in house.
